Club Amalgamations under the Registered Clubs Act 1976
Turner freeman represented the Gymea Bowling and Recreation Club Ltd and Miranda Builders’ and Businessman’s Club Ltd. The clubs wished to amalgamate and made the application under the Registered Clubs Act.
The amalgamation was objected to by another registered club and therefore a decision was required by the Full Bench of the Licensing Court regarding the amalgamation. A case of this kind has not been heard in NSW and it was unclear which way the Court would decide. The Court was satisfied that the grounds for the objections were unsatisfactory and therefore they found in favour of Turner Freeman and the 2 clubs.
