Research conducted by Professor Anand Deva and Associate Professor Mark Magnusson shows the risk of developing a rare cancer called Breast Implant Associated – Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA – ALCL) is significantly higher with rough textured implants, with the highest increase in reported cases linked to the biocell textured implant made by Allergan. The implants used by the TCI companies were these Allergan  biocell implants and in the class action brought by Turner Freeman against the TCI companies and Dr Eddy Dona, it is pleaded that by reason of TCI’s “One Size Fits All Approach” to BAS, women were at an increased risk of having several complications, including BIA – ALCL.
