Important NSW Health Alert

On 3 February 2021, NSW Health issued an alert in relation to alleged infection control breaches at Detoxologie Clinic Bondi Junction (Shop 58, Eastgate Shopping Centre, and previously at Oxford Street, Bondi Junction). This was subsequent to the clinic being shut down in December 2020, following the hospitalisation of two customers who received infusions at the clinic.

It is alleged that Ms Fay Fain performed procedures that she was not qualified to perform and that infection control breaches, including the potential use of non-sterile equipment, have placed customers at risk of viruses including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

Anyone who underwent one or more of the following procedures at Detoxolgie between June 2013 and December 2020 is advised by NSW Health to see their doctor for testing of hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV:

  • colonic irrigation
  • intravenous (IV) infection or vitamin injections (such as B12 or any injections)
  • facial micro-needling (also called collagen induction therapy or skin needling)
  • allergy testing (such as a blood testing for food allergies, live blood analysis or any test involving a pin prick or blood test)

NSW Health has contacted a number of at risk customers by text message, email or phone call, however “due to the business’s incomplete records, not all at risk customers may be contacted”.

NSW Health is urging anyone who attended the clinic and received one of the procedures listed above to see their doctor and organise testing, even if you have not been contacted.

It is concerning to see another instance of the public being put at risk by invasive treatment, being provided by an allegedly unqualified person, at a cosmetic/health and wellness clinic.
