Medical care during the pandemic

As we battle a pandemic, there has been an increase in the number of patients that require medical care and treatment.

Whilst we appreciate that not every patient that presents to a health service provider has a life threatening condition, most people that seek medical advice require timely review, investigation and treatment in order to improve or resolve their symptoms. Some patients may even present with time-sensitive conditions that require urgent treatment.

The resources available to medical staff have been stretched in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients during this pandemic. Undoubtedly, health service providers are under immense pressure as they try to meet growing demands for health services.

It is unclear at this stage if this is causing patients to experience a delay in accessing usual health services in a timely fashion and if this delay is in turn causing a delay in diagnosis and treatment. Timely diagnosis and treatment often result in a better outcome for patients.

If you or a loved one have been affected by a delay in accessing health services and have sustained a permanent or significant injury, you may be entitled to compensation. Turner Freeman have acted for numerous clients who have experienced poor outcomes as a result of a delay in diagnosis and treatment. We know from our experience that patients are disadvantaged by the lack of resources and expertise to deal with specific medical issues.

If you have or someone you know has had a poor outcome following medical treatment, it is important you get advice as to your legal options.

At Turner Freeman, we have specialist medical negligence lawyers who will assess your case and provide personalised advice regarding your legal entitlements. Our medical negligence lawyers are located across NSW including in our offices in ParramattaSydneyWollongongNewcastle and Toronto.
