Lucy Tait
Lucy's expertise
Lucy is an Associate in Turner Freeman’s Parramatta office, practising in medical negligence. She supports clients and their families through complex and often difficult circumstances, combining her legal experience with a strong clinical understanding developed during her previous career in nursing.
Before becoming a lawyer, Lucy worked as a Registered Nurse across a range of clinical specialties. She later held an executive role at one of Sydney’s major public hospitals, where she worked in policy and implementation science.
Lucy assists clients with a broad range of medical negligence matters, including delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, birth injuries and trauma, catastrophic injuries, nervous shock, coronial inquests and matters involving children. Her medical background helps her interpret clinical records, understand complex medical issues and navigate the healthcare context surrounding a claim.
Her years working with patients have also shaped the compassionate and considered way she works with clients and their families. Lucy understands that people seeking legal advice following a medical incident may be dealing with significant physical, emotional and practical challenges, and places importance on providing clear guidance and thoughtful support throughout the legal process.
In 2012, Lucy was awarded an Executive Medal for going “above and beyond” in patient care at one of Sydney’s major private hospitals. Her commitment to supporting people through difficult circumstances continues to inform her approach to her legal work.
