Hearing loss amongst seniors in Australia

By Turner Freeman

Hearing loss in older people

Hearing loss is unfortunately one of those things that affects many seniors in Australia. Often it is something that happens naturally, other times it might be because of exposure to loud noise. Whatever the cause, unfortunately it is irreversible.

The Worker Compensation scheme in most States in Australia including New South Wales, now allow workers who are suffering from hearing loss caused by exposure to loud noise at work, to claim compensation and hearing aids.

Industrial Deafness Claims

Occupational hearing loss, or industrial deafness, is a condition which affects many workers without their knowledge. Commonly, it is family or friends who first notice hearing loss. If your family or friends are complaining that you listen to the television too loud, or you are having to ask them to repeat themselves regularly, or you cannot hear people talk when there is background noise, it is often a sign that you might have hearing loss and it is recommended you have your hearing tested.

Claiming for compensation

At Turner Freeman we specialise in helping our clients who are suffering from a work related hearing loss make a claim for compensation and hearing aids. Even if you do not think you have a hearing loss, we can organise a free hearing test to make sure.

If you have an enquiry about a hearing loss claim or would like our assistance in arranging a hearing test please contact our office on (02) 8833 2500.

We have offices in New South Wales in Sydney, Parramatta, Campbelltown, Newcastle, Penrith, Wollongong and Gloucester.
