Farewell the Director of the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute
The Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia recently hosted a lunch for members and guests to farewell Professor Nico van Zandwijk, former Director of the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute (ADRI) at Concord, and to welcome the new Director Dr Ken Takahashi. Fiona Seaton, partner in Turner Freeman’s Sydney office, attended the lunch.
ADRI is at the forefront of research into the incidence, prevention and treatment of asbestos related diseases and in particular pleural mesothelioma.
Friends and supporters of the work of ADRI and of the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia heard Barry Robson’s heartfelt thanks to Professor van Zandwijk for his valuable work in this area and his warm welcome to Dr Takahashi as ADRI’s new Director.
The executive of the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia presented Professor van Zandwijk with gifts to commemorate his stay in Australia as Director of ADRI.
Dr Ken Takahashi spoke about his vision for the future work of ADRI. Associate Professor Glen Reid, senior research scientist at ADRI addressed attendees about his work. Associate Professor Reid has recently been appointed as ADRI’s Deputy Director.
