Joelle Matar

Since 2016, Joelle has been an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law and has exclusively practised in medical negligence since 2007.

Joelle first joined Turner Freeman in 2019, and remained at Turner Freeman for a number of years. She recently returned to Turner Freeman in 2026 as a Partner in our Sydney office. She was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW in 2010 and in the High Court of Australia in 2012.

Joelle represents ordinary people who suffer from significant injuries that affect every aspect of their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Her undergraduate Science degree enables her to understand human anatomy and pathology, which facilitates her understanding of the complex medical issues that usually form the basis of medical negligence litigation. Joelle considers it a privilege to use her medical knowledge, legal skills and experience to advocate for, and empower, people who need access to justice. She is passionate about helping people, who face daily challenges due to injury and is committed to achieving a reasonable outcome that improves her clients’ quality of life and provides them with access to necessary services and treatments.
