The Firm
We have a new opportunity for an enthusiastic Associate/Senior Associate to work in our Queensland Wills and Estates Department located in our Brisbane CBD office. Work alongside a Doyles recognised Wills and Estates team and with a leading Wills and Estates practitioner.
The role will enable you the opportunity to develop your skill set by assisting the team with your expertise, and take on a growing file base, in estate planning, administration and litigation. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a solid foundation in succession law and is looking to take the next step in their career working in a rewarding role.
At least 4 years PAE and experience in Succession Law is essential with training and mentoring provided.
The Role
Working on a variety of matters including the preparation of basis and complex Estate Planning documents, Probate, Property Transmissions, Superannuation Death Benefit Claims, Trust Disputes, Family Provision Applications and Solemn Form proceedings;
- Advising clients on the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Testamentary Trusts
- Provide guidance on Estate Planning strategies to protect client assets and ensure their wishes are carried out;
- Assist and provide guidance to clients on the administration of deceased estates from commencement to completion;
- Represent clients in estate litigation matters, such as contested Wills, estate disputes and family provision claims;
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals within the Wills and Estates team;
- Provide advice to valued clients including but not limited to executors, beneficiaries and members of the deceased’s family;
- Maintain a high level of client service and building strong relationships with clients
- Preparation and drafting of correspondence, deeds and court documents;
- Liaisie with other departments within the firm including superannuation, personal injury and asbestos;
- Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective communication with clients throughout the legal process.
The Candidate
- A minimum of 4 years post admission experience in Wills and Estates;
- Experience running estate planning, administration and litigation matters independently;
- Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skills;
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
- Confident interpersonal skills when dealing with clients to build strong relationships;
- Self motivated, self starter who thrives in a high volume work and fast paced environment;
- Technically competent with the ability to build on and perform in the role consistently;
- Possess analytical skills with the ability to work autonomously in a supportive team;
- Strong legal research, analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of building strong client relationships;
- Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse caseload and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- A demonstrated experience in mentoring young lawyers and support staff;
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders;
- A commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and client service.
