Our Western Sydney Partners Richard Dababneh and Nathan Edwards Bonello presented a legal education seminar (Personal Injury – what are the rights of an injured person and how to manage the situation) over the weekend.

This seminar was part of the Toongabbie Legal Centre’s 10th Anniversary Celebration education program. More than 100 people from Western Sydney attended the seminar and gave positive feedback on the information provided and quality of the presentation.

This seminar mainly addressed the following questions regarding personal injury claims: what form of compensation an injured person can receive and how to go about proving you were injured, as well as a brief summary of how different types of claims proceed and what entitlements are available to them in those claims. As an approved legal service provider to the WorkCover Independent Review Officer (WIRO) and Partner of the Parramatta office, Richard gave an overview of Workers Compensation scheme in NSW, who can claim, the claims procedural requirements and time limits. Nathan – Partner of the Campbelltown office – then discussed other forms of compensation including Motor accident claims and Public liability claims. They both answered questions from the audience on specific personal injury cases, and highlighted the significance of seeking legal assistance as soon as possible when injured at work or on the road.  Mr Susai Benjamin, the Honorary Director of the Toongabbie Legal Centre, thanked our speakers for the presentation as well as the ongoing support of Turner Freeman to Toongabbie Legal Centre over the last decade.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of this presentation handout, please email our Marketing team. Testimonial from one of the attendees:

Your presentation on personal injury and Worker’s Compensation was very interesting and educative. I have experience in a wide range of Labour Laws in India. Work place injuries and accidents are dealt under Workmen’s Compensation Act 1924, Employees State Insurance Act 1948 and Fatal Accidents Act. I acted as a Mediator and Arbitrator in a number of commercial and labour disputes. I came here on PR Visa recently and I am a novice to Australian Laws. I am 81 and still desirous of learning.
